STORYLINE
The story is narrated by Beelzebub, who follows "The HellTaker" on his quest to build a harem. The harem becomes increasingly chaotic as the protagonist himself is forced to admit that all he has to offer is coffee, turn-based strategy, and chocolate pancakes. Players may encounter one of two endings in the game.
- Regular ending: the Helltaker opens the front door of the house to the police waiting outside.
- Abysstaker ending: the Helltaker opens a portal using three stone tablets. Each tablet is inscribed with a sequence of movements that the player must perform while standing on the rug located in the Helltaker's house during the finale.
GAMEPLAY
Each level in Helltaker is designed as a 2D grid, reminiscent of the classic game Sokoban. Players must push blocks, maneuver around skeletal guards, and avoid dangerous traps. However, your number of moves in each level is limited; therefore, you must calculate every step with precision. Additionally, please remember to collect the special items scattered throughout each level. At the end of each stage, a demon girl will pose a question that requires the player to use deductive reasoning to find the correct answer. An incorrect answer will send you back to the beginning of the level.
