Storyline
In Friday Night Funkin', you play as Boyfriend, a young man trying to win over Girlfriend. Boyfriend's goal is to share a kiss with Girlfriend at the end of each night. However, Girlfriend's father - Daddy Dearest - stands in the way of their relationship. To date Girlfriend, you must emerge victorious in intense musical showdowns. Beyond the main story, the game features numerous mods created by the fan community.

GAMEPLAY
In Friday Night Funkin', you track arrows moving across the screen and press the corresponding keys in time with the song's rhythm. Musical notes appear as arrows moving to the beat, corresponding to either the arrow keys or the W, A, S, and D keys. Hitting the notes on beat rapidly boosts your HP bar, while missing them causes it to drop.
Explore two game modes
- Story mode: Songs are organised into "weeks," with each week presenting a musical challenge consisting of three songs. You will face various opponents each week, such as Boyfriend, Girlfriend, Pico, Daddy Dearest, and Senpai.
- Free play mode: freely choose any song from the game's music library. This mode is ideal for honing your skills and challenging yourself.
Item system
- The microphone is the most important item in the game, allowing Boyfriend to showcase his expressive vocals and win Girlfriend's heart.
- The Miss Meter tracks accuracy during each song; if the meter fills up, the protagonist loses.
- The Health Bar tracks Boyfriend's health.
- Special items help boost Boyfriend's abilities for a short period.
