We Become What We Behold delivers a powerful message about the influence of the media and how people react to sensational news. The game offers a haunting experience that makes you think about your role in modern society.

A SIMPLE GEOMETRIC WORLD AND MEDIA INTERFERENCE

We Become What We Behold opens up a peaceful world where square and round characters live together on a green field. Players take on the role of a media reporter, who is responsible for capturing random animals. However, you do not know that your lovely photos become the catalyst for a series of dramatic events.

The game initially feels fun when you photograph an excited character wearing a new hat. The photo is projected on the central signboard, causing all the residents of this world to imitate. Thus, a new trend is born. But when you turn the lens to characters without hats, things start to change. Taunting photos appear, turning people away from the previously celebrated trend. In another case, when you photograph a square-headed character standing next to a round-headed character, a message “#Squares hate Circles!” appears. This message incites emotions and encourages hostile behavior.

Game instructions

  • Camera control: players move the camera lens back and forth across the screen to observe the crowd and click to capture captivating moments.
  • Story selection: neutral or positive moments are often ignored, while negative events easily attract attention.
  • Broadcast a message: the photo you take appears on a large sign in the middle of the screen. Characters in the game will react based on the message the photo wants to convey.
